Horn Lake Water Tower Horn Lake MS

Horn Lake, Mississippi

zip 38637

Horn Lake, Mississippi, received its name from an oxbow lake three miles west of a former Mississippi riverbed. The river changed course in the late 18th century, leaving a stranded body of water resembling a cow horn. It became known as Horn Lake. The first post office was opened on December 13, 1853, and the city was officially incorporated in 1973.

Horn Lake's charm comes from its mix of old and new, city life and country living. It is home to fantastic worldwide corporate businesses, excellent schools, Elvis' honeymoon cottage, and the legendary Bull Frog Corner. While the trains no longer stop in Horn Lake, watching Amtrak and other trains pass through the city is still fun. Horn Lake is also the hometown of Philidelphia Eagles NFL player Nakobe Dean.

Horn Lake grows with new businesses and affordable houses in family-friendly neighborhoods. The parks are well maintained and offer plentiful walking trails, ball fields, disc golf, and fishing. In addition, new parks and walking trails are being developed with historical ties to the Native Americans who first inhabited the area.
